Ketty Marcelo is a renowned Asháninka leader, former president of the National Organization of Andean and Amazonian Women of Peru (ONAMIAP). Originally from the Pucharini Native Community, in the province of Chanchamayo, Selva Central, Ketty carries in her blood the identity of the Yanesha and Asháninka peoples, inherited from her parents. In her career as a social leader, she has contributed to making visible and positioning the interests and priorities of Andean and Amazonian indigenous women, both nationally and internationally. Her work has been carried out from forest communities, as well as from the Centre for Native Communities of the Selva Central (CECONSEC) and the Unity Pact of Indigenous Organizations of Peru, for whom she acts as representative. In 2019, Ketty was a candidate for the Frente Amplio party to the Peruvian Congress. Ketty is national coordinator of National Council of Indigenous Women of Peru (OMIASEC).
