MONTH 3: CONNECTING WITH THE WILD FEMININE#

✦ Connecting with the Land#

with Sharon Blackie & Minna Salami
Tueday, 23th November

This week we are joined by Sharon Blackie, an award-winning writer and internationally recognised teacher whose work sits at the interface of psychology, mythology, and ecology.

Sharon’s talk will be on ‘Marrying the land – how we broke the ancient bargain’. In this session, Sharon will introduce the wild and powerful women who were fierce guardians and protectors of the land and its creatures, and we’ll think together about the ways in which they inspire us today.

We are also joined by Minna Salami, a Nigerian, Finnish and Swedish writer, feminist theorist and the author of the internationally-acclaimed book Sensuous Knowledge: A Black Feminist Approach for Everyone.

This session will be hosted by Francesca.

✦ Connecting Through Faith#

with Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo & Yeye Luisah Teish
Tuesday, 30th November

This week we are joined by The first woman to be ordained into Tibetan Buddhism, Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, who left Bethnal Green in London at 18 and took a vow to obtain enlightenment in female form.

Her journey has not been easy - she spent 12 years living in a cave in the snowy Himalayas and faced prejudice and misogyny in her quest. She founded the Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery in Himachal Pradesh in India where she lives. She says “there is no male or female in meditation”.

We are also joined by Yeye Luisah Teish who is an Iyanifa and Oshun Chief in the Yoruba tradition and one of the best known Yorunba priestesses around the world.

Yeye will talk about ‘She Who Whispers: Deep listening as a spiritual practice’. We are trained to shut out the “still small voice” of the spirit. Yet it is this inner voice that inspires artists, informs inventors, and guides leaders. Every person alive can access that still small voice.

This session will be hosted by Amrita.

✦ Connecting Through Practice#

with Suhaly Bautista Carolina & Susun Weed
Tuesday, 7th December

This week we are joined by the author of one of the world’s most popular books on menopause, Susun Weed, who will be talking about ‘The Three Traditions of Healing’.

We are also joined by Suhaly Bautista-Carolina, otherwise known as The Earth Warrior. Suhaly is an organiser, educator, herbalist, and visual artist, and founder of the Moon Mother Apothecary.

Suhaly will explore the idea of change, evolution, and mirroring our needs to meet us where we are (at any given point in our lives), and will weave in the Afrofuturist teachings of writers like Octavia E. Butler and adrienne maree brown to speak to the way we make adjustments in our portfolio of practices to best serve our unique needs.

This session will be hosted by Francesca.

✦ Connecting Through Ritual & Ceremony#

with Chloe Goodchild & Chiara Baldini
Tuesday, 14th December

For the final week we are joined by Chiara Baldini, a researcher and curator from Florence, Italy. Chiara will be talking about ‘Wild Women of Dionysus: The Lost Lineage of European Female Shamans’.

Who were we when we were indigenous to these beautiful European lands? What were our rituals? Which were the practices that allowed us to be in constant dialogue with plants, animals, rivers, mountains? And what was the role of women when we lived in close contact with Mother Nature? Which were the gods and goddesses representing the wild and vitalising powers of creation?

We are also joined by Chloe Goodchild, founder of The Naked Voice.

This session will be hosted by Amrita.

This week we will gather for our final discussion session on Thursday 16th December at 7pm BST to discuss thoughts and ideas, and to share what has come up for us during this month’s exploration of the feminine.
