Advaya Healing Area at Virgo Festival 2017
Festival with Christabel Reed, Ruby Reed
Nestled in the grounds of an 800 year-old stately home in Devon countryside, Advaya will be hosting the healing area for the third year running. Virgo festival is an intimate party in the most stunning natural surroundings - showcasing underground sounds and redefining festivals as a means of escapism.
Friday 26th May to Monday 29th May, 2017 Exeter, Devon
Its one of our greatest highlights each year and such a pleasure to facilitate a space for young partiers to come and rest and rejuvenate their tired bodies and minds. Our priority is creating a cosy space for people to calm, chat and re-charge whilst maybe opening their minds to different possibilities, ideas and tools for life in an informal and relaxed manner.
There will be a lot of different sorts of yoga workshops, so something out there for everyone, these will include kundalini, dynamic vinyasa karma, breath development, meditation, gentle stretching and relaxation, mindful movement, grounding workshops, pranayama, body scans, chanting, arm balancing, headstanding, hip opening and acro yoga (two person yoga!). We will also have martial art workshops exploring Karate Kata and Aikido, hoola-hoop and handstanding workshops.
Those who want to get creative will have the opportunity in art workshops, creating beautiful pieces and playing with colour. We are very excited to announce that pottery is also on the cards – through Clay Landscape Workshops we will explore nature and our surroundings, using different foraged natural objects such as stones, features and leaves to see how textures can be imprinted and applied to clay. We may build pots and different forms that reflect our surroundings. As the materials we are using are all from the earth and decompose or just re settle, we think at the end of the workshop rather than taking and keeping the work we made, we could arrange it in the space we were inspired by as a sort of instillation. The ‘Clay Landscape’ may or may not be found by passers by and would eventually naturally breakdown/decompose and return to the earth.
For those less willing to participate but wanting to sit back and expand their minds, we have some wonderful talks lined up covering the topics of sustainability, how to communicate climate change, activism, Calais Jungle and Standing Rock. And for those who want to give their tired bodies what they deserve can come for massage, emotional freedom technique, private yoga or meditation, reiki and Ayurvedic yoga massage.
We’re still finalizing different elements but are very very excited with what’s lined up so far. The festival itself is out of this world amazing and we couldn’t be more honoured to be a part of it! Hope to see you there!
